Job Summary

KAR OG Alan–Sasan DMCC is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to support operator-side cost management across oil & gas operations and projects in Erbil, Iraq. The role will lead cost control activities including VoWD, accruals, cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, and cost performance analysis, ensuring alignment with PMI standards and industry best practices.


Job Title: Cost Controller Specialist

Location: Erbil – with occasional travel to Baghdad and Mosul Governorates

Schedule: Full-time Employee

Working Time: Sunday – Thursday (8:30-16:30)


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in implementing cost control systems, procedures, and tools in line with project requirements.
  • Support the maintenance of the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) aligned with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Monitor project expenditures and commitments against approved budgets.
  • Track Value of Work Done (VoWD) and support performance analysis.
  • Ensure accurate cost allocation and coding in the ERP system.
  • Assist in the preparation of project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Support maintaining the project cost baseline and updating forecasts based on actual performance.
  • Prepare variance analysis reports and highlight cost deviations.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cost reports under supervision.
  • Provide project progress reports and financial summaries.
  • Coordinate with planning, procurement, finance, and technical teams to ensure alignment between cost and schedule.
  • Support evaluation of cost impacts related to project changes.
  • Maintain and update the change log.
  • Assist in risk assessments and contingency tracking.
  • Review contractor and vendor invoices and verify against contracts and purchase orders.
  • Prepare invoice documentation packages for finance review.
  • Support procurement in cost-related analysis and contract documentation updates (variations, amendments, claims).


Requirements

 COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Good organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive mindset.

 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 8 years of experience in cost control, project controls, or finance (oil & gas or EPC experience preferred).

·        Demonstrated experience in VoWD, accruals, cash flow forecasting, cost reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

·        Solid understanding of PMI principles and widely accepted industry best practices.

  • Understanding project management principles and industry best practices.
